“Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love.”

I remember worrying to the extent where I couldn't sleep, I would forget the smallest things, I couldn't concentrate to save my life, I lost my appetite, and felt like I couldn't trust my own thoughts. Almost like, my body and mind were working against me instead of for or with me.
I went to therapy in 2018 for my anxiety and by 2020 I was starting my Masters to become what my therapist was for me. My own struggles with anxiety helped place me on my current life's path.
That's when I realized that my anxiety would never change if something about my life didn't change too. I needed tools to build, not the distractions that tricked me into thinking I had it under "control".
I cry from joy knowing that I'm living in a moment that old me prayed for. A mind and heart truly healed from anxiety.

Think of your brain as the alarm system of the body, your home. The alarm system is responsible for reading danger from the environment and ring the alarm when there is potential threat.
There's a difference between a leaf falling in front of the alarm and 4 masked gunmen attempting to break in. What if your alarm system treated these two instances exactly the same? That is anxiety.
Anxiety is a natural response to stress or danger that keeps us alert preparing to protect you...just in case.
When our alarm goes off too often or too strongly, even when there's no threat, it becomes a problem.
So although our alarm system can be jumpy, there's a way it can be adjusted!

This specific disorder involves a strong fear of social situations -- usually in environments with people we don't know well.
The hardest part to get past with S.A.D are the assumptions of how others perceive you, even if those theories are false.
You might feel shy, have trouble speaking up, or physical symptoms like sweating, shaking, stuttering, and increase heart rate.

A specific phobia is an intense, irrational fear of a particular object, situation, or activity that poses little to no real danger. You may go to the greatest extent to avoid the feared object or situation, resulting in distress and impairment in your daily life.
Specific phobia differs from agoraphobia which is about avoiding places where we might have the hardest time having a panic attack (public transportation, In a large crowd, etc). These forms of anxiety panic can become so powerful when an individual stops leaving out of their home altogether.
-
People with panic disorder are usually struck with bouts of fear, seemingly out of nowhere--with a clear and sudden start.
Attacks have to happen repeatedly and be unexpected, which may make you worry excessively about having more attacks. You can probably see how the vicious cycle begins.

Persistent and pervasive worry is the hallmark of generalized anxiety disorder. Worry causes trouble sleeping, difficulty concentrating, and feeling tired all the time (it takes energy to worry)!
Panic disorder represents the threat of imminent danger, and GAD is on the opposite end of that spectrum. The anxiety is spread over multiple life domains (that’s the generalized part), and this form of anxiety is experienced as a plethora of what-ifs.
When one worry is resolved, another takes its place.
